Honorary Bachelors Degree from Arizona State-Obama Respect or Disrespect? - By Mrs. Tee

President Obama was invited to speak at Arizona State. My understanding is that Arizona State refused to give President Obama and honorary degree. Not and honorary doctorate degree but and honorary bachelor degree. It is also my understanding; the reason given for not giving President Obama a honorary bachelor degree is they don’t believe he has accomplished enough!!

I hope I got the wrong understanding and someone out there can help clear this up for me………Let’s see President Obama is the first African American President of the United States….He earned degrees from Columbia University and Harvard Law School, where he was elected the first African American editor of the Harvard Law Review….. He was elected as an Illinois State Senator…… He authored two best selling books, Dreams from My Father and The Audacity of Hope …..He is the loving husband of our First Lady Michelle Obama, who is also a graduate of Harvard Law School……..and He has fathered two beautiful daughters, Malia and Sasha……….Not to mention what he has accomplished since he has been elected President within his first 100 days…..plus so much more!

So I have to ask this question, do you think Arizona State has ever given an honorary bachelors degree to anyone that has accomplished less than this?????…………….I think they have!

If Arizona State doesn’t think President Obama deserves to have their honorary bachelors degree or they don’t like what he is doing, or believe in his policies, then don’t invite him to speak……….It’s that simple!

As far as a degree from Columbia University and Harvard Law School compared to a degree for Arizona State….how do you think it will stack up!……..You can probably guess what I think!

President Obama has earned our respect and we should respect the office he holds, the highest our country has to offer, the President of the United States of America.

  1. I suppose what many have long considered impossible...becoming the first black President of the United States...is not achievement enough for ASU. What is it with these universities? People at Notre Dame are still complaining about the invitation for Obama to speak at their commencement. I think these snubs mask a more sinister factor--his color.

  2. Obama Respect-Disrespect; Where Would We be if John McCain Won?

Just think about it and ask yourself, what if John McCain had won the election? We would be continuing down that same road that President Bush and John McCain had laid out for us and so would the economy. According to current reports and the stock market things are starting to turn around. So even if the changes that President Obama has made turn out to be bad at least for now there is some light at the end of this economic tunnel where as before there was only darkness.

So we should at the least give President Obama the respect for standing up for the changes he has made. This alone, in this short period of time he has been in office, I think we should respect.

We all need to get behind him and give him our respect and our full support and let the world know that we support or President.
